Enjoy This New Way to See Nature Around Canvas Valley Forge

Valley Forge National Historical Park, located just 1.5 miles from your Canvas Valley Forge apartment, is one of the region’s most well-known spots to soak up history. With historic houses, statues, memorials and plenty of opportunities for education, it’s easy to while away a full day walking back in time at the park. But, while you’re there, don’t just limit your trip to history—as the park is brimming with nature, a perfect way to send off summer and welcome the cooler weather.

Miles and miles of trails wind through the picturesque park, making it the perfect spot for an early morning walk, afternoon stroll or sunset jog, as you take in the rolling hills and scores of wildlife that call the park home. If you want to experience either with more of an expert eye, consider checking out one of the park’s most popular ongoing events that will get you moving while also allowing you to immerse yourself in nature

The second and fourth Tuesday of the month through October, join dozens of your neighbors for a guided bird walk through the park. The group meets at 8 a.m. at the Artillery Park lot, and sets off for a two-part loop: First, stroll for a bit less than a mile before looping back to the starting point and setting off on another 1.5-mile trail.

Walkers of all experience level are welcomed, as are birders of all experiences, including newbies. A trio of birding experts will lead the tours, teaching visitors what the different birds both look and sound like, so they can come back for a visit and do their own bird watching. All participants are invited to bring along their own binoculars, load up on sun screen and inspect spray, and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Ride out the last few weeks of summer in our area’s most scenic spot, taking in history, nature and everything in between.
